The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an active recall for various apple juice products sold at renowned retailers such as Aldi, Walgreens, and Walmart, among others.

**What’s the issue?**

The recall arises from the detection of unacceptably high levels of arsenic in these popular apple juice brands. **Arsenic is a harmful heavy metal that can induce poisoning if consumed in excessively high amounts**.

Which products were recalled?

Various apple juice products have been added to the recall expansion, including:

* **Great Value Apple Juice** sold in 96-ounce bottles with expiration dates “DEC 26 24,” “DEC 27 24” or “DEC 28 24.”

**What should you do?**

If you find any of these recalled products in your refrigerator, Dispose of them immediately or bring them back to your purchasing location.

**Why arsenic is a concern**

Arsenic is inherently toxic and can cause acute and chronic health issues by accumulating in the body ([[1]]). While modest amounts of heavy metals could be harmless, high and prolonged exposure can lead to severe health complications, exacerbating the risk of: headaches, fatigue, tremors, confusion, impaired cognitive function, and reproductive issues ([[5]])].
